In the years to come,

You will be tempted from poverty and simplicity—

to become more comfortable, to possess more things

to rely more on your degrees or positions or possessions

than upon the gracious goodness of God,

You will be tempted from fidelity and solitude—

to become ambiguous

to borrow intimacy in easy places,

to rationalize promiscuity

rather than to walk with Jesus the Companion

into the unknown darkness that is discipleship.

You will be tempted from availability and obedience

to decide that you are needed in only one place,

that you alone know where God is calling you and

that no one appreciates the many gifts you have

rather than to be ready and willing to go wherever you are called.
